Colditz: Complete Miniseries (2-DVD Set, PAL, Region 2)
Experience the suspense, courage and determination of Allied prisoners of war in Colditz (2005), an atmospheric British World War II television miniseries starring Damian Lewis, Sophia Myles, Tom Hardy and Jason Priestley.
Directed by Stuart Orme, this gripping 2005 production brings to life the extraordinary story of Allied servicemen imprisoned in Colditz Castle, one of Nazi Germany's most notorious prisoner-of-war camps.
Set during the Second World War, the story follows British officer Jack Rose (Tom Hardy) and his fellow servicemen after their capture by German forces. Transferred to the supposedly escape-proof Colditz Castle near Leipzig, the prisoners find themselves confined within a heavily guarded medieval fortress.
Despite the seemingly impossible circumstances, Jack and his fellow prisoners refuse to abandon their hopes of freedom. Using ingenuity, determination and extraordinary courage, they devise increasingly daring escape plans while facing constant surveillance from German guards.
Meanwhile, beyond the prison walls, a complicated personal drama develops involving Jack's girlfriend Lizzie Carter (Sophia Myles) and fellow serviceman Nicholas McGrade (Damian Lewis). As the war continues, questions of loyalty, love and betrayal become intertwined with the prisoners' struggle for survival.
Inspired by the real history of Colditz Castle, the miniseries combines historical wartime drama with suspense, romance and the remarkable ingenuity of Allied prisoners of war.
