Juan of the Dead (DVD, PAL, Region 2)
Juan of the Dead (Juan de los Muertos) is a Cuban-Spanish zombie horror comedy directed by Alejandro Brugués, combining a full-scale undead outbreak with dark comedy, action and satirical observations about life in Havana.
Juan is a laid-back, largely unemployed resident of Havana whose friend Lázaro is just as reluctant to do any serious work. Their routine changes dramatically when the city's inhabitants begin turning into violent, flesh-eating zombies. While the authorities offer their own explanation for the chaos, Juan spots an unusual business opportunity and assembles a group to deal with the undead—for a price. What begins as an entrepreneurial scheme soon becomes a fight for survival and forces Juan to reconsider what really matters to him.
