The Beach (DVD, Region 2, PAL)
Leonardo DiCaprio stars in The Beach, director Danny Boyle's atmospheric adventure thriller based on the best-selling novel by Alex Garland.
Richard is a young American backpacker travelling through Thailand in search of something beyond the usual tourist experience. In Bangkok, he learns of a mysterious and supposedly untouched island paradise hidden from the outside world. Armed with a hand-drawn map, Richard and his travelling companions set out to find it.
What initially appears to be the perfect tropical escape soon reveals a much darker side. The isolated community living on the beach has its own rules and secrets, and Richard's pursuit of paradise gradually turns into an increasingly dangerous psychological journey.
Combining spectacular tropical scenery with adventure, romance and psychological tension, The Beach is one of DiCaprio's notable films from the beginning of the 2000s and an early Hollywood production from acclaimed director Danny Boyle.
This DVD also contains a substantial selection of bonus material, including deleted/alternative material, the original theatrical trailer, cast biographies, a music video and director audio commentary.
Cover language: Dutch and French. The film is available in English and French, with English, Dutch, French and Greek subtitles.
