The Vanishing (VHS, PAL)
The Vanishing is a tense 1993 psychological thriller directed by Dutch filmmaker George Sluizer, starring Jeff Bridges, Kiefer Sutherland, Nancy Travis and Sandra Bullock.
During a journey, Diane Shaver (Sandra Bullock) suddenly disappears, leaving her boyfriend Jeff Harriman (Kiefer Sutherland) with no explanation and no answers. Years later, Jeff remains consumed by the mystery of what happened to her. His relentless search for the truth eventually draws him toward Barney Cousins (Jeff Bridges), a disturbing and calculating man who may hold the answers Jeff has been seeking. Discovering the truth, however, may require Jeff to put himself in extraordinary danger.
The film is Sluizer's American remake of his own acclaimed 1988 Dutch/French thriller Spoorloos (The Vanishing), with this version featuring a prominent Hollywood cast and music by Jerry Goldsmith.
