Addams Family Values (DVD, Region 2, PAL)
Addams Family Values brings the wonderfully macabre Addams clan back for another darkly comic adventure. Gomez and Morticia Addams have welcomed a new baby, Pubert, into the family, but Wednesday and Pugsley are far from enthusiastic about their new sibling and immediately begin devising suitably Addams-style ways of dealing with him.
Things become even stranger when seemingly sweet nanny Debbie Jellinsky arrives at the Addams mansion. Uncle Fester quickly falls for her charms, unaware that Debbie has plans of her own. Meanwhile, Wednesday and Pugsley are sent away to an unbearably cheerful summer camp, where Wednesday's refusal to embrace conventional happiness leads to some of the film's most memorable moments.
Directed by Barry Sonnenfeld, this 1993 sequel stars Anjelica Huston, Raul Julia, Christopher Lloyd, Joan Cusack and Christina Ricci. Its mixture of gothic atmosphere, deadpan humour and eccentric characters makes it a memorable entry in The Addams Family franchise.
