The Very Best Of Bert Kaempfert is a Polydor compilation bringing together twelve well-known recordings by German composer, arranger and orchestra leader Bert Kaempfert and his orchestra.
Kaempfert was one of the leading figures in European easy-listening and orchestral pop during the 1950s and 1960s. His distinctive arrangements combined brass, strings and jazz influences with an immediately recognizable smooth instrumental sound. He also wrote and co-wrote several compositions that became international standards, most famously Strangers in the Night.
This Dutch Polydor stereo pressing carries catalogue number 2416 066 and has the classic orange Polydor centre labels. The label states Made in Holland and © 1968. The album includes major Kaempfert favourites such as Wunderland bei Nacht, A Swingin' Safari, Afrikaan Beat, Moon Over Naples and Strangers in the Night, alongside his orchestra's interpretation of George Harrison's Something.
The original cardboard sleeve shows visible age and storage wear, including edge and corner wear. A period Disco Holland retailer sticker remains attached to the rear cover. The record is housed in a plain paper inner sleeve.
