Directors Cuts: Horror (CD, 2006, DCD021, Extreme Music)
Directors Cuts: Horror – DCD021 is a 2006 professional production-music library CD issued by Directors Cuts, a division of the Extreme Music Library. The release is described on the packaging as “Disturbingly haunted fright-flick flinchcore scores” and contains a collection of dark cinematic cues designed around horror, supernatural, suspense and thriller themes.
The album contains 21 full-length compositions plus 21 corresponding 30-second versions, with music by James Brett, Cody Westheimer, Michael Price, Luca Antonini, Matt Gates, Mike Shapiro and others. Titles such as Trial and Terror, School of Shock, Temple of Gloom, Stab in the Dark, Spawn of the Dead and Fear Factory reflect the deliberately macabre horror-film character of the collection.
This copy retains its distinctive Directors Cuts clapperboard-shaped case, original DCD021 CD and matching insert. The disc is marked “Digitally Watermarked.” An unusual collectible physical library-music release, particularly interesting for collectors of Extreme Music, soundtrack and production music, horror-related media and distinctive promotional/library CDs.
