127 Hours (DVD, PAL, Region 2)
127 Hours is the acclaimed 2010 survival drama directed by Danny Boyle and starring James Franco, based on the extraordinary true story of American outdoorsman Aron Ralston.
While exploring the remote canyons of Utah, Ralston suffers a devastating accident when a falling boulder traps his arm deep inside an isolated canyon. With limited supplies, no immediate means of calling for help and nobody knowing exactly where he is, he must rely on determination, ingenuity and memories of his life as the hours pass. The film combines an intense survival story with a deeply personal account of endurance and self-discovery.
James Franco's central performance earned him an Academy Award nomination for Best Actor, while the film received six Academy Award nominations, including Best Picture. Director Danny Boyle, known for films including Slumdog Millionaire and Trainspotting, brings an energetic visual approach to a story largely centred around a single trapped protagonist.
