Million Dollar Baby (DVD, Region 2, PAL)
Million Dollar Baby is Clint Eastwood's acclaimed 2004 boxing drama starring Clint Eastwood, Hilary Swank and Morgan Freeman. This release is part of the Quality Film Collection and comes from Dutch distributor A-Film Distribution.
Frankie Dunn is an experienced boxing trainer who has spent years keeping people at a distance following a painful estrangement from his daughter. His carefully controlled life begins to change when determined aspiring boxer Maggie Fitzgerald walks into his gym and asks him to train her.
Initially unwilling to take her on, Frankie is eventually won over by Maggie's determination, raw talent and relentless work ethic. As their training progresses, their relationship develops into something deeper than that of trainer and fighter. Alongside Frankie's longtime friend and former boxer Eddie "Scrap-Iron" Dupris, they form an unlikely bond built around boxing, loyalty and the search for purpose.
What begins as an underdog sports story gradually develops into an emotional and powerful drama about ambition, family, sacrifice and difficult personal choices.
The film became one of the most celebrated movies of its year, winning four Academy Awards, including Best Picture, Best Director for Clint Eastwood, Best Actress for Hilary Swank and Best Supporting Actor for Morgan Freeman.
This Quality Film Collection PAL Region 2 DVD presents the film in 2.35:1 anamorphic 16:9 widescreen, with English and French Dolby Digital 5.1 audio and Dutch and French subtitles.
