Ninja is a fast-paced martial arts action film directed by Isaac Florentine and starring martial arts specialist Scott Adkins as Casey Bowman. Combining traditional Japanese ninja mythology with modern action filmmaking, the movie delivers sword fights, hand-to-hand combat and highly choreographed martial arts sequences.
Casey is an American studying the art of ninjutsu at a dojo in Japan under the guidance of Sensei Takeda, played by Togo Igawa. The dojo protects an ancient and highly valuable collection of ninja weapons known as the Yoroi Bitsu.
Among Sensei's students are Casey and the skilled but increasingly dangerous Masazuka, played by Tsuyoshi Ihara. When Masazuka's violent temperament leads to his expulsion from the dojo, his humiliation turns into a desire for revenge.
Years later, Masazuka returns with the intention of taking control of the Yoroi Bitsu. To protect the collection, Casey is entrusted with transporting it to safety in New York City. Accompanied by Sensei's daughter Namiko, Casey soon finds himself pursued by heavily armed enemies as Masazuka closes in.
What follows is a relentless confrontation that forces Casey to use everything he has learned, combining traditional ninjutsu techniques, sword fighting and modern combat to protect both Namiko and the priceless weapons.
Directed by Isaac Florentine, Ninja is particularly appealing to fans of Scott Adkins and modern martial arts cinema. The film emphasizes practical fight choreography and showcases Adkins' athletic fighting style, while Tsuyoshi Ihara provides a formidable opponent as the revenge-driven Masazuka.
