Basic (DVD, PAL, Region 2)
Basic (2003) is an intense military mystery thriller directed by John McTiernan, the acclaimed filmmaker behind Die Hard, The Hunt for Red October and The Thomas Crown Affair.
Starring John Travolta, Samuel L. Jackson and Connie Nielsen, the film combines military action, psychological suspense and an unpredictable investigation filled with conflicting testimonies, hidden motives and unexpected revelations.
There Are Degrees of Truth
Deep in the jungles of Panama, a routine military training exercise turns into a deadly mystery.
Sergeant Nathan West (Samuel L. Jackson), a notoriously demanding military instructor, leads a group of elite Army Rangers into the jungle during a violent storm.
When the soldiers fail to return as expected, a rescue operation discovers that something has gone terribly wrong. Several men are missing, others are dead, and the surviving soldiers refuse to provide a consistent explanation of what happened.
Former Army Ranger and DEA agent Tom Hardy (John Travolta) is called in to investigate the mysterious incident.
Working alongside military investigator Captain Julia Osborne (Connie Nielsen), Hardy begins questioning the survivors. However, their accounts contradict one another, and every new revelation raises further questions.
As the investigation progresses, accusations of betrayal, corruption and murder begin to emerge. Hardy must uncover the truth behind the disastrous mission while navigating a complicated web of military secrets and deception.
With its tense atmosphere, unpredictable storyline and strong performances, Basic keeps viewers questioning what really happened until the final revelations.
