Exorcist: The Beginning (DVD, PAL, Region 2)
Discover the terrifying origins of one of cinema's most famous horror stories in Exorcist: The Beginning (2004), directed by Renny Harlin and starring Stellan Skarsgård, Izabella Scorupco and James D'Arcy.
Set in the years following World War II, the film follows Father Lankester Merrin, a former priest struggling with traumatic memories of the war and a profound loss of faith.
Seeking a new beginning, Merrin travels to East Africa to work as an archaeologist. Beneath the desert sands, an ancient Christian church has been discovered in a location where Christianity supposedly had not yet arrived.
As excavations progress, disturbing events begin to unfold. Mysterious deaths, terrifying visions and increasingly violent behaviour suggest that something deeply sinister has been awakened.
Confronted by an ancient evil, Merrin must face his own past and the terrifying supernatural force that will ultimately shape his destiny.
A prequel to the legendary 1973 horror classic The Exorcist, this film explores the early encounters between Father Merrin and the demonic entity Pazuzu.
Directed by Renny Harlin, known for Cliffhanger, Deep Blue Sea and Die Hard 2, the film combines supernatural horror, psychological tension and religious mythology.
