Queen of the South Seas: Part 1 (VHS, PAL)
Queen of the South Seas: Part 1 is the first half of a historical adventure mini-series starring Barbara Carrera as Emma, with Hal Holbrook, Steve Bisley, E.G. Marshall and Rebecca Rigg. It was produced by Ann Chapman and Ross Matthews and directed by John Banas.
The story is based on the life of Emma Eliza Coe, who became known as the "Queen of the South Seas" during the second half of the nineteenth century. The daughter of a Samoan princess and American consul Jonas Coe, Emma grows into an ambitious and influential woman whose extraordinary life takes her through the worlds of commerce, society, romance and political intrigue. The story spans locations ranging from the South Pacific and New Guinea to San Francisco, Europe and Monte Carlo.
This particular cassette is Deel 1 (Part 1) of the Dutch VDN VHS release. The packaging specifies English spoken dialogue with Dutch subtitles, colour presentation and a 12 rating. It describes the production as a mini-series and lists a total running time of approximately 200 minutes; this appears to refer to the complete mini-series rather than Part 1 alone.
